Money Minefield Game

Money Minefield GamePlaying the game

The Money Minefield game was developed by Janet Mundy of West Lothian Credit Union Forum and Jenny Reekie of West Lothian Adult Basic Education as an entertaining way for people to focus on how to budget for their personal finances. We use it in small groups from primary schoolchildren to adult learners of all ages, and it has proved very popular. We are hoping to develop it further and produce multiple copies of the game in the near future. We recently held a very succesful workshop on the game at the Scottish Adult Numeracy Seminar in Stirling.

If you would like us to bring the game to a group that you are running, please contact us.

Some quotes from children who have played the game:

"Thank you for playing the game. It was fun. Thank you for letting me be the bank." Caitlyn

"I liked the game. So last night I joined the Credit Union." Matthew

"We learnt loads about the Credit Union and problems we might have when we were older." Courtney

"We had fun playing Money Minefield. We felt like a grown-up paying the bills." Shannon
